Cleanroom Testing
MicroStat Laboratories/River’s Edge Technical Service can provide a wide range of contamination control and cleanroom testing services, including consumables, equipment, particle and chemical analysis, and ESD. We utilize the relevant test methods and standards set forth by the ESD Association, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, IEST, IEC, ISO, or our clients in-house specifications. ESD testing is performed in-house; other testing can be arranged through sub-contractors with interpretation of results performed by experienced contamination control experts..
Typical Contamination Control Tests
Particle Analysis
Particle counts in liquid solution, particles counts in airborne analysis,
fiber indentification, particle identification, SEM/EDXA particle counts
and identification, FTIR Infrared Analysis.
Extractable Anions
In this test, the sample is soaked in DI Water for a specified period of
time. The water is then tested for chloride, bromide, fluoride, nitrate,
nitrite, phosphate and sulfate using Ion Chromatography. Results are
reported in ppb (nanograms of ion per gram of sample or weight of anions
per surface area of part).
Extractable Cations
In this test, the sample is soaked in DI water for specified period of
time. The water is then tested for ammonium, calcium, lithium, magnesium,
potassium and sodium using Ion Chromatography. Results are reported in
ppb (nanograms of ion per gram of sample or weight of anions
per surface area of part).
Extractable Ion Screen
In this test, the sample is soaked in DI water for specified period of
time. The water is then tested for sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium
using Ion Chromatography, and for chloride using an Ion Selective Electrode.
Results are reported in ppm (nanograms of ion per gram of sample or weight
of anions per surface area of part).
Non-Volatile Residue
In this test, the sample is soaked or boiled in a given solvent for a specified
period of time. The solvent is then filtered and evaporated, and the
remaining residue weighed. This test is useful in evaluating the potential
for an item to cause chemical contamination.
Outgassing
Outgassing is a measurement of the quantity of volatile chemicals released
from a material while it is heated. Condensable volatile residue (CVR),
Static Headspace, and Dynamic Headspace are typical tests that are used
to measure outgassed materials. Test results offer an indication of the
material's tendency to contaminate surfaces in a controlled environment
with airborne molecular compounds.
Particle Cleanliness, Wet Test
In this test, a portion of the sample is rinsed with ultrapure DI water,
which is then tested for particles using a Liquid Particle Counter.
The number of particles per unit area is determined. This test measures
the number of insoluble particles on the sample's surface.
